Fair – weather friend

Use:

Noun and countable but usually used in the singular form.

Meaning:

Someone who is a friend only in easy and peaceful periods and doesn’t assume his responsibility of support in hard periods (crisis, problems…)

Example:

I keep my friendship only with people who stay firm and loyal and break up with fair weather friends.
