EXAMPLE 1: How do you do?

Meaning:

used to greet a stranger for the first time.

Example:

Person A: How do you do?

Person B: How do you do?      not    I am a student.

The common mistake: some people confuse between “how do you do?” and “what do you do?”.

EXAMPLE 2:  Age

Question: How old are you?

Answer: I am twenty five years old. or I have got twenty – five years old.

The common mistake:                           I have twenty – five years old.

EXAMPLE 3:

I go to school on foot / feet.

The common mistake:                           I go to school by foot.
