The Loyal Guardian

An illness was trying to invade a human body when the Immune System stopped its progress. Each one was doing its best to take control of the body and trying countless of ways to reach the same goal.

The Immune System said angrily:
“You know well that you are unwelcome and you always insist on coming and disturbing the human body. You should be ashamed of yourself!”

“I don’t come to pay my respects to anyone, but I am on duty after the calling of some symptoms. It is my mission. There is no romantic purpose behind my visit.”

“So you admitted that it is just a visit, then why do you impose your horrible presence and stay for long? and why do you take our beloved and cause grief to many people?”

“I stay when you don’t do your work well. You must blame yourself instead. I do my job and yours as well. Don’t forget that one of us must take care of the body!”

“Taking care of the body. You are an invader while I am the faithful guardian. How can you pretend doing the good while you are a killer?”

“My visit makes the body relax, the mind rethink its thoughts and the soul cleanse its sins. My arrival gives the body more strength and energy. Thanks to my visits the human beings get acquainted to your existence, acquire wisdom, experience pain and suffering, and discover medicine. Thanks to my work many people earn their living such as doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and chemists.
I know that all the body organs hate me, but I do love them and I don’t expect any reward from anyone. I do believe in my noble mission.”

“And why do you send many innocent souls to an early grave?”

“I send them to relax when they grow sick of complaining about your weakness and irresponsibility”

“You are stubborn and arrogant and I was trying to convince you to leave but we can’t seal the deal!”

“I am faithful to my convictions and threats don’t frighten me.”

“As long as I am alive, I swear to protect the human body and sacrifice myself as the loyal guardian of the human being.”
